Technics Sl-xp7 Portable Cd Player

Here is my Technics portable CD player SL-XP7 along with the Technics SH-CDB7 rechargeable battery pack/carrying case that was an accessory for the SL-XP7. I purchased this combo new back in 1986, they’re both in super excellent (clean) shape, barely any signs of usage wear (see pictures) mainly because it was hardly ever used. It'll be difficult finding one in this condition, it's that impressive! I can’t give you an exact number CD’s I've played on it since I purchased it, but it wasn’t very many times at all. It was never ever used outside of my house, even when it was used, I never used it as a carry around portable out and about and in fact you can see the carrying case strap it still in the original plastic bag, I never even attached it to the carrying case.
These items work as they did when I purchased them new however the battery portion most likely will not because of its age but being this old it’s amazing it still does hold a charge and work on battery at all. I played something like 8 songs off a CD while running on battery mode and eventually the low battery indicator started flashing on the digital display, so I stopped the cd and turned off the unit and then simply switched to AC power mode and continued playing from there. I personally always used this on AC power mode with the included Technics supplied AC adapter. This is built like a tank, very amazing tech for that time period considering the CD itself was only developed not many years before this was released. Following models released by the manufacturers turned to using much more plastic in their portable CD player builds and it showed, quite the difference in built quality!
I find it hard parting ways with equipment I’ve acquired over the years but it’s time to pass this on to someone else who appreciates similar things that I have and do. This has been stored in my electronic device closet in its original manufactures box (picture included) that it came in. All pictures shown are mine (except the old Technics ad) and are of everything I'm selling; some photos were taken outside in daylight (may see some cloud reflections) and some inside under a light.
